All Summoning Materia in FFVII Remake

Among all the Materia that you can collect and use in battles of Final Fantasy VII Remake, there is one special type: the red or Summoning Materia. This Materia allow us to invoke a deity that will join the battles and become a strong ally. Here, we are listint all the existing summonings of the game, including all the special ones, and how to achieve them.

How to summon a spirit

First of all, you have to equip a summoning materia to a character. Every character can own and, therefore, be able to summon a single spirit at a time. And then, the command to summon a spirit appears in the middle of a battle, once certain exact characteristics are meet:

  • The character’s life is critical (red).
  • You have managed to leave the boss at Vulnerable.
  • You can summon a single spirit in each battle, so no second spirit will come to help you.

How to make the most of the summon

When a summoning is complete, the summoned monster will join your party and help you defeat your enemies. The spirit will autonomously launch attacks. But you can also make it launch powerful attacks by consuming your own ATB.

Once the summon bar is exhausted, the summoned spirit will use its final attack. This will also happen when the party member that has completed the summoning dies in battle.

The list of summonings

Ifrit

The invocation of Ifrit is achieved by obtaining the Ifrit materia. You will get it at the end of chapter 3, as a part of the main story, so you won’t miss it.

Ifrit uses physical and fire attacks, so it is ideal for dealing damage to those enemies vulnerable to flames.

Chocobo and Moogle

The Chocobo and Moogle materia is the most tricky to achieve, as it can easily be missed. It is obtained during Chapter 6, after turning off the generators, by going inside the fans. Check the following video in order to watch clearly how to get it.

This Materia allows you to summon a moguri riding a chocobo. Chocobo and Moogle use non-elemental and wind attacks. His final attack, a stampede of chocobos, is solely windy.

Shiva

This is the first invocation that we can fight “virtually” and obtain by talking to Chadley after completing the side quest “Chadley’s Report” in Chapter 3. By gaining his trust, he will inform us later that we can use his simulator to fight with various invocations and get them for ourselves. Meanwhile, he will gain combat information to develop new materia.

Shiva masters ice attacks, so it is especially useful against fire enemies. This is one of the most classic summons in the series, and her Diamond Dust is one of the strongest attacks, that leaves us quite an impressive scene.

Fat Chocobo

The Fat Chocobo materia is achieved when completing all the first 9 Combat Reports and after talking to Chadley. Then, he will unlock the Battle Intel Report No. 10 and he will allow you to virtually fight a Fat Chocobo and get it if we defeat him.

All the attacks of this spirit are non-elemental. And, when early in the game, it is quite hard to defeat him because it has a lot of endurance. But, once achieved, this invocation will attack your enemies with force.

Leviathan

The Leviathan materia is achieved when completing all the first 14 Combat Reports and after talking to Chadley. Then, the 15th Combat Report will be unlocked and this creature will be available in the VR simulation.

The main power of the Leviathan is water. This type of magic does not exist in the game, which means that this deity deals non-elemental magic damage. As a consequence, this summon is quite useful against any enemy. Also, take into account that Leviathan is so huge that it won’t help us in certain small areas.

Bahamut

The Bahamut materia is achieved when completing all the first 19 Combat Reports and after talking to Chadley. Then, he will unlock the Battle Intel Report No. 20 and this creature will be available in the VR simulation.

It is without any doubt the most powerful summon in the game. This mighty dragon is one of the classic summons of the franchise, and its Meglafare attack scene will surely leave you breathless. It uses non-elemental physical and magical attacks to defeat your enemies.

Chocobo Chick

This summon can only be achieved by those who pre-ordered the Final Fantasy VII Remake game, who received the summoning materia as an exclusive bonus.

It is a smaller version of the Chocobo that will attack enemies with various melee attacks.

Cactuar

This summon can only be achieved by those who pre-ordered the Deluxe edition of the Final Fantasy VII Remake game, who received this summoning materia as an exclusive bonus.

This spirit is an animated nimble green cactus plant with arms and legs that attacks our opponents kicking and throwing needles at them for fixed damage.

Carbuncle

This summon can only be achieved by those who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe edition of the Final Fantasy VII Remake game, who received this summoning materia as an exclusive bonus.

This adorable spirit represents a small fox-like creature with a red gem on its forehead that will help us in combat and support the party with buffs.
