OnePlus Nord and Story Of The Company

The recently released OnePlus Nord is a mobile that wants to conquer the mid-range handset market. Its powerful hardware, beautiful design, 5G, amoled screen, the 48Mpx main camera of the OnePlus 8 and, of course, Oxygen OS are specs that not many mid-market smartphones can offer. But, what is the history of OnePlus? Let’s take a look.

HISTORY OF ONEPLUS

At the end of November 2013, two former Oppo employees launched a new smartphone concept that they called OnePlus.

According to Pete Lau, founder of OnePlus, he commented that experience at his previous company had taught him that users were dissatisfied with their mobile phones because they were of poor quality. Their vision was to make smartphones that balance the quality of high-cost devices from their competitors with a lower price than other phones in their class. All in all, great design, powerful specs, faster and more efficient than software, and a low price.

In this way, they would be able to fill the gap in the market of users who do not want to give up having a good device but without paying large amounts of money. And that dream came true in 2014 with the launch of the OnePlus One. They had no marketing, no bells and no whistles, but their phone was soon endorsed by critics and users.

Since then, OnePlus has moved from its humble beginnings as a single online smartphone maker niche to a global phenomena in less than six years. In these years, they have managed to win many loyal fans of the brand who buy their products thanks to their popular high-end high-quality phones. That is why OnePlus is said to be the Apple of Android. However, this year they have decided to release their first mid-range product in years: the OnePlus Nord.

OXYGEN OS

If we talk about the history and successes of OnePlus, we cannot forget its simple and beautiful but powerful Oxygen OS operating system. This is because the success of the brand depends largely on this software, which is exclusive to its smartphones.

OxygenOS is the name of the Android-based mobile operating system developed by Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus. It offers an agile and customizable experience, even better than a pure Android phone like the Xiaomi A3.

It is very fast and has a very clear and well designed interface. So the user interaction is usually quite smooth and friendly. Even if the company is Chinese, the UI design is Europe and US market-oriented. It is also completely customizable. This means each user can modify the appearance of the interface without necessarily depending on the official designs used by each manufacturer. And no third-party applications are installed as standard (which includes all Google applications that are installed from the factory or those from companies such as Samsung, Facebook or Huawei). And these two features has been well received by users praising the operating system as the best on the Android ecosystem.

SPECIFICATIONS

Definitively, with this CV we can say that OnePlus really knows how to make good high-end smartphones. But OnePlus Nord is its first mid-range smartphone since 2015’s ill-fated OnePlus X.

It is available in Europe, India, the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, and Malaysia. And it has arrived to become 2020’s best seller smartphone. It is pretty much verything you could ask for. Do you want to take a look to its specifications and know why?
